The Arrival
One day, a small group of women and their children arrived at the Pueblo. They discovered a caretaker, a small school building with a teacher's desk and student desks, and a few houses. Upon their arrival, the children discovered a letter on the teacher's desk in the schoolhouse signed by the "High Priestess." The children took the letter and quickly ran out the schoolhouse door to find their mothers.
"Mama! Mama! Look!!" The smallest child, a thinly built girl with short, dark brown hair named Iris caught up to the group of women, out of breath and waving the paper excitedly in the air.
The woman Beth, turned her head to see. Beth took the paper from the little girl, found her reading glasses and glanced at it quickly. By this time the other three girls had caught up with the women.
"They left it in the schoolhouse Mama!" Iris yelled as if her mother was a million miles away.
"That's right! They left it in the schoolhouse on the table!" The other three girls yelled only slightly less in agreement. Beth stood for a moment reading the letter from the High Priestess.
"Let's take the letter back to the schoolhouse and we can all read it together in the morning. We'll have dinner first. I'm hungry." Beth turned and walked in the direction of the schoolhouse, all four girls bouncing after her.
