Ragtime might have been a golden tailed mermaid in another life, but her rehearsal music brought back memories of a distant past. A past when she and her family, the "Maples," were persecuted for their skin color and sexuality. When Ragtime was young, a Maple Tree was used to make Ragtime a piano. Ragtime played on this piano for many years, until she encountered the Golden Piano at the Piano Bar & Restaurant. The Golden Piano was rumored to have been made of solid Gold, but for Ragtime, it felt more like magic.
