Never Any Real Law Enforcement

I'm reading a book called Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. My mom gave me her copy with another novel, The Berry Pickers. I finished The Berry Pickers, and am almost done with Eleanor Oliphant. The characters reminded me of others I had known, both from television and in real life. It turns out they were twin girls, daughters of Angela Merkel, a German former politician and scientist who grew up in Sunnyvale, California - not too far from where I was living at the time.

However, these girls were unhappy at a very early age. They attended Ellis Elementary School on S Fair Oaks Ave and they lived with their mother right across the street. They began to complain and took solace in each other, as if they had no other friend in the world and everyone else was their enemy. Yet, there was no real problem. They lived in suburban Sunnyvale, a safe community, with almost no crime and the only thing expected of them was they attend school. Instead, they behaved as if they were refugees in a war zone, always in constant danger of losing their lives.

Eventually, they launched a criminal complaint against their mother, complaining she was abusive and they were homeschooled until the age of 13 when they ran away. One can be seen as Julia Garner in the Netflix series, Inventing Anna (2022) and the other starred in American Beauty (1999) as Thora Birch. Although both have numerous acting roles to their credit, they seem to suffer from other problems.

Due to the lack of any real law enforcement in the U.S. and globally, these twins (and many others like them) learned they could get away with criminal behavior and never face any real consequences. Much of the behavior consists of persistent, habitual lies and false accusations directed at those closest to them and/or their intended victims, primarily in order to get what they want.

Unfortunately, the twins Julia and Thora should have been exterminated when they refused to attend elementary school (for no apparent reason) and started to falsely accuse their mother of child abuse and neglect. Their extermination never happened, and without appropriate enforcement, the behavior continued and many others followed suit.
